JDPC Fair 2004

Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC), Ministry of Jute, organized a diversified jute products (DJP) fair at Bangladesh Shishu Academy premises from 6 December to 12 December 2004. This fair expressed high hope of restoring lost glory of the 'golden fiber' and ended large visitors from all walks and learnt about the trend in jute.

Including Nowapara Jute Mills Ltd, more than 50 manufacturing companies participated at the fair. NJML exhibited their diversified products such as rot-proof Hessian bags, treated Hessian bags, nursery pot, wall-mat, etc. A lot of visitors were seen crowding at the stall of NJML.

All attendees put their jute products of various types and designs on display. Briefcases, seminar files, schoolbags, purses, cradle, saree boxes, wine bags, water bags, dolls, shopping bags and many more jute-made products are put on display in the fair. A number of stalls that manufacturer sataranji, a traditional floor-mat, also participated in the fair with products.

There was a huge turnout of visitors at all over the fair. Jute products manufacturers see a bright prospect in the days ahead. "I could never think that jute can make so many diversified products," said a schoolteacher who came to visit the fair.

JDPC Executive Director ABM Abdullah expressing his satisfaction over the visitors' gathering and enthusiasm about the exhibition, said, "We have primarily succeeded in our mission. Visitors' interest and demand are really optimistic."
